Do you want to write for us? Then keep reading. There are a few things you need to do.
Get to Know Us
Before you submit, pick a section to write for. Then read our style guidelines and a few articles to get a feel for the tone of our mag.
Format Your Article Properly
Please carefully read and follow the following formatting rules:
• Articles must be submitted as email attachments in either Microsoft Word or RTF format. If you can’t do either of these, as a last resort you can cut and paste the text of the article into an email.
• All images accompanying articles should be sent in either JPEG or TIFF format at 300 dpi or greater and should be sent as separate attachments (not pasted into a Word document).
• The file name should include the article title and author’s name (i.e. thisarticle_joeblowhard.doc)
• The first three lines should include: the article title, byline (author’s name), and word count.
• Left justify all text including the title, byline, and word count.
• Double-space, instead of using tab-indents, to mark new paragraphs (like the text on this page).
Failure to format your article properly may result in rejection.
Be Patient
While you stare at your inbox waiting for our reply please remember that this magazine is a 1.5 man operation and all our staff have other full-time jobs. We will get back to you as soon as we can, but that may be a while.
When submitting, keep in mind that all editors are jealous of writers and derive a perverse satisfaction from dismembering articles until they’re nothing but limpid pools of banality. We’re no exception. Please don’t be upset when we hack the innards out of your work and publish a disfigured perversion of your original story.
